Industry Standards

The Illinois Department of Public Health requires ALL home health, home services and home nursing agencies be licensed.  Included in the licensing requirements are minimum standards.  AACI, a pioneer in the home care industry, established many business best practices, standards and policies long before they became part of the licensing Act.

IDPH Minimum Training Requirements

  • 4 hours of initial training prior to employment
  • 4 additional hours within 30 days
  • 8 hours of additional training each year

AACI Standards Minimum Training Requirements

  • 4 hour pre-employment application process and comprehensive in-person interview with member of administrative team
  • Multiple professional and performance references required
  • 8 hours orientation/training, competency testing and return demonstration prior to placing caregiver on first assignment
  • Minimum of 8 hours of additional training each year

AACI Standards

Since 1983, AACI has followed a medical model and developed a personalized care plan for every client prior to starting care.  The initial assessment visit and subsequent visits are performed by a Skilled Nurse.  Regardless of what services client’s have requested, we schedule a return visit by an Assessment Nurse to review and update their care plans every 45 days.

How does AACI differ from other home care providers?

Integrity

AACI has a long history as an ethical industry leader in best standards and practices.  We practice what we preach, walk the walk, and lead by example.  AACI has longtime policies and procedures in place that are in compliance with federal and state Department of Labor employment requirements and IDPH licensing requirements.  Our best practices and business foundation allow us to be successful in recruiting and retaining staff who are part of our team approach to care, advocating for health, well-being and positive quality of life for our clients.

 Vision

A-Abiding CARE, Inc. recognizes the need for client education and advocacy for home care, both at the personal and the public level.  We serve client needs in their homes.  We act as a resource within our community by participating in wellness activities, senior group education events, etc.  We are participants and/or members of many different local and national advocacy groups.

A-Abiding, CARE, Inc. has been a charter member of the National Private Duty Association (NPDA) since 2002.   The NPDA is a recognized force in legislative efforts in home care and the nation’s first association for providers of private duty home care.  The NPDA is a recognized resource for information and private duty home care practices supported by a strong national membership of providers;  currently 1200 member organizations throughout the USA.

We are also charter members of the IL Chapter of the NPDA and an AACI staff member was recently elected to sit on the NPDA IL Chapter Board.

Experience

Collectively, AACI has over 200 years of health-care experience represented by our administrative and nursing staff alone.  If you added up the years of care experience of our caregivers – many of whom have celebrated 5, 10, 15 and even 20 year service anniversaries with us – you would be adding several hundred more years to that!

Reliability

We have previous clients who have received our services in the past, recovered, and who call us again when they need assistance.  Often times we are able to schedule the same caregivers; continuity of care!

The majority of our referrals come from word of mouth from a friend, family or relative of a previous client.  They know we helped them and so refer others to us knowing we can – and will – help them too.
